Engineering background
Bertrand Mezatio holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering with a manufacturing-technology focus from TU Dortmund. His practical work has included mechanical design, CAD development, prototyping, DFM review, technical drawings, supplier coordination and product-development support.
DIVE-LD is built around the same workflow used in real mechanical-design work: clarify requirements, select a viable process and material, create robust geometry, control function with dimensions and GD&T, verify the design, and release a manufacturing-ready package.
What he writes about
CAD & design intent
Parametric modeling, file exchange, robust feature trees, drawing release and model handoff.
DFM & manufacturing
Injection molding, CNC, sheet metal, additive manufacturing and practical process constraints.
Tolerancing & GD&T
Datums, position tolerance, fits, tolerance stack-up and communicating functional requirements.
Machine design
First-pass mechanics, shafts, beams, springs, power transmission, bearings and stability.
Editorial approach
DIVE-LD articles are educational references, not design sign-offs. Numerical rules are presented as assumptions, starting points or simplified relationships where that is what they are. Important designs should be checked against the current applicable standards, actual material data, supplier capability, testing and the complete load case.
The site also distinguishes between content that explains engineering concepts and interactive tools that perform transparent first-pass calculations. Calculator inputs remain in the browser on the current static version of the site.
