Standards & reference map

DIVE-LD explains engineering concepts, but release work should be checked against the standards, specifications and supplier data that actually govern the product. This page maps common DIVE-LD topics to standard families worth consulting.

Important: Standards are revised, superseded and adopted differently by industry and region. The references below are navigation aids, not a declaration that a particular edition applies to your project. Confirm the current edition and contractual requirement before release.
GPS / GD&T

Geometry and drawing definition

  • ISO 1101 — geometrical tolerancing of form, orientation, location and run-out.
  • ISO 5459 — datums and datum systems.
  • ISO 8015 — GPS fundamentals and principles.
  • ISO 14405 series — dimensional tolerancing.
  • ASME Y14.5 — dimensioning and tolerancing, widely used in North America.

Fits

Linear-size tolerances and fits

  • ISO 286 series — ISO code system for tolerances on linear sizes and fits.
  • ISO 2768 series — legacy/general tolerance references often found on drawings; verify whether the specified edition is current and contractually applicable.

CAD exchange

Product-data exchange

  • ISO 10303 (STEP) — product model data representation and exchange.
  • 3MF specification — modern additive-manufacturing container format maintained by the 3MF Consortium.

Machine design

Bearings, gears and fasteners

  • ISO 281 — rolling bearings, dynamic load ratings and rating life.
  • ISO 6336 series — calculation of load capacity of spur and helical gears.
  • ISO 898-1 — mechanical properties of carbon/alloy steel fasteners.
  • ISO metric thread standards such as ISO 261/262/965 families — thread series, sizes and tolerances.

Additive

Additive manufacturing design

  • ISO/ASTM 52900 — additive-manufacturing fundamentals and vocabulary.
  • ISO/ASTM 52910 — requirements, guidelines and recommendations for design for additive manufacturing.

Surface texture

Surface specification

  • ISO 21920 series — profile surface-texture specification and indication.
  • Supplier process capability and inspection method remain essential because drawing symbols alone do not guarantee a manufacturing result.
