T torque, K nut factor, F preload, d nominal diameter.
Main limitation: torque is an indirect way to create preload. Friction under the head/nut and in the threads can dominate the torque–tension relationship.

- What clamp load is actually required?
- Can the joint separate or slip under service load?
- What tightening method controls preload scatter?
- Are threads, bearing faces and lubrication/coating defined?
- Is fatigue relevant?
- Will embedment/relaxation reduce preload?
- Are temperature differences important?
- Is locking against loosening required?
Do not infer safety from torque alone
For safety-critical joints, use an appropriate bolted-joint design method, verified fastener/material data and a validated assembly procedure.
